Where to Use:
- All Types of Exterior Wood: Pressure-treated or untreated wood.
- Any Species: Pine, Hemlock, Fir, Cedar, Redwood, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Poplar, Teak, Ipé and more.
- Installation Types: Primarily for below ground or ground contact installations. Also excellent as a final finish for above ground wood.
- Recommended Projects:
Below ground or ground contact: Landscape timbers, railroad ties, fence posts, poles, pickets and rails, construction posts, foundation sills, planters, storage sheds and more. Above ground: Shake and shingle siding, wood roofing shingles, wood windows, doors and frames.
When to Use:
- Recommended First Application: Following proper surface preparation, apply immediately, before installation (refer to PTDS - Surface Preparation and Application).
How to Use:- Application Methods:
- Homeowner: Apply by pump-style sprayer, nylon or synthetic bristle brush, short-nap roller or three (3) dip treatment.
- Builder / Contractor: Pre-treatment by dip method before installation is recommended (refer to PTDS - Recommended Coverage). For wood structures already installed, apply with pump or HVLP sprayer. The Wolman® DeckHandTM or DeckMate® Portable Sprayers are recommended. For best results, back-brush uneven coverage or puddles.
- Coats required:
- Below ground or ground contact: Immerse wood in product for 12-48 hours, or until sapwood is completely penetrated. If dipping is not possible, two (2) brush, roller or spray coats are required. Allow at least one (1) hour between applications.
Above ground: Two (2) coats are required. Allow at least one (1) hour between applications.- Dry Time:
First Coat: 2 hours.
Second Coat: Touch: 4-6 hours. Walk-on: 24 hours. Allow a minimum 24 hours before installation.- Coverage Per Gallon:
- Approximately 150-200 sq. ft., depending on wood age and species, surface porosity and method of application.
- Clean Up:
- Wet: Soap and water. Dry: Mineral spirits.
